He traded his soul to a kitten for a hundred pudding cups, but when the kitten found out Jon already gave his soul away, he took back all the pudding. He went into a state of depression, likely enduced by the lack of delicious pudding, and slowly he went crazy, each day a thousand times worst than the last.
